Xena: Warrior Princess - The Fresh Unofficial Companion

(exclusive publication from New Zealand)

This publication was released in NZ, and I think some Xenites had a hand in it. How can I tell? Well, I happened across the fine print in the copyright details on the inside of the front page, and what do I find? Read on:

"No Xenites were forced to watch Melrose Place during the making of this magazine. However, there is a certain editor who is suffering from acute myopia as a direct result of excessive visual consumption of Xena and her cohorts. [aka "You Wanted Pics? You Got 'Em!"] "

The mag contains an episode guide through Season Three, Xenite Websites, and some trivia bits about Lucy and Renee. Here are some samples:

LUCY ON...FAME
"If it makes somebody smile to have your picture in the front of his school book or on his computer screen, well, good job. Isn't that an honor. I'm more worried about my taxes and will the tomatoes [in my garden] rot than controlling my image."

LUCY'S FAVOURITE FOOD
Lamb shanks, frozen yogurt, baked beans and chili.

RENEE'S PET
A cat named Kia Ora (means Hello and Welcome in Maori) "The neighbours think I'm crazy, because I'll go outside yelling, 'Kia Ora! Kia Ora!'"

RENEE ON...EXERCISE
"As soon as they put me in a short skirt, the comment from the L.A. office was, 'Where did Renee the Robo-Cop come from?' They had no idea that I actually worked out. It was all hidden under the skirt! They're used to young women and actresses who are quite feminine, fragile. I'm not like that, and I didn't want Gabrielle to be like that."

The bitchinest thing, though, are the huge-ass posters at the center of the mag. One is of Gabrielle, but the other is double-sided with Xena on one side, and the other side is made up of some pictures I'd never seen...I think they are outtakes from the Australian Rolling Stone photo shoot.

And now, for your enjoyment, here they are:
